The Gallardo is the latest from the famous Lamborghini marque and the Best Motoring International team give it the most thorough evaluation against the toughest of supercar opposition. The Gallardo, which has already won the Motor Performance Car of the Year title, is put up against potent opposition, including its stablemate, the Murcielago, plus the very best from Ferrari, Porsche, BMW and Honda. A quick run through the history and specifications of the Gallardo introduces the car and then an interesting demonstration of how this thoroughbred handles the peak hour traffic of Japan. It's then time for ex-Indycar racer Takuya Kurosawa to take the Gallardo to the mountain's windy roads for a real test. Joined by Takayuki Kinoshita in a Murcielago, each driver tests both Lamborghinis, comparing the strengths in a flat-out run through the closed mountain pass. There's some stunning car-to-car footage as the Nissan GT-R camera car gets right in behind the two Lamborghinis as they drive flat-out through the bends. The two supercars are then put through a slalom test with the racing legend Motoharu 'Gan-san' Kurosawa behind the wheel, followed by wet-weather handling on a wet skid-pad against an Ferrari 360 Modena and R34 GT-R. But this has all been building up to the Super Battle, to be held on the East Course of the famous Motegi Twin-Ring circuit. The line-up is mouth-watering: • Lamborghini Gallardo • Lamborghini Murcielago • Ferrari 360 Modena F1 • Porsche 911 Turbo • Honda NSX-R • BMW M3 CSL All steered by professional drivers in a reverse grid format over four laps. Each car does a single qualifying lap to determine the grid followed by an analysis of the top speed, braking and handling performance of each, with a split-screen view of the pedals, plus gear indicator. The Super Battle is intense. Gan-san in the NSX-R pulls an audacious move into the first turn, going side-by-side with the Murcielago and M3 CSL, with the Modena and 911 just ahead and the Gallardo right behind them. The battle, showing each cars' different top-speed, handling and braking attributes, is one of the best ever captured on a Best Motoring International DVD. HOT VERSION The very popular 'Hot Version' has Part 3 of the revealing and exciting documentary about Keiichi Tsuchiya's 2003 Japanese GT Championship assault. With the action at Round 6 at Motegi in the wet, this documentary takes you through Keiichi's experience and philosophy of racing in the wet, including footage of one of his overnight stints behind the wheel at Le Mans in the pouring rain. The action from Motegi is superb, with continued behind-the-scenes footage, listening to the car-to-pit communication, in-car shots and some incredible racing action, including the 200km/h push & shove between Tsuchiya and his ARTA NSX and the Nismo GT-R. Best Motoring 11 culminates with Round 2 of the Touge 300. With the maximum horsepower machines, regular Touge drivers Tsuchiya, Nobuteru Taniguchi and Manabu Orido, take a collection of 300hp machines to see if any can challenge the Touge Monster - the Amuse S2000! The competitors are the defending champion, JUN's yellow Honda Prelude, improved with further modifications, the Phase Honda Accord Euro-R, NER S13 normally-aspirated Silvia, Central 20 Z33 (Nissan 350Z) and J's Racing Honda S2000. After driving and judging each of these through the Touge and announcing the winner, the drivers then choose the JUN Prelude and the J's S2000 for a first-ever three-way Downhill Touge Challenge against the Amuse S2000. Using the 'Initial D' rules, it comes down to a sudden-death match-up between the two S2000s, with nothing between them. The drivers are racing at 100 percent increasing the danger.
